The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has inaugurated the Rail Robotics Club at Ola Girls’ Senior High School in Kenyasi, located in the Ahafo Region.
This initiative, spearheaded by KNUST, aims to enhance students’ understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics, equipping them with skills to thrive in these rapidly advancing fields.
Dr. Eunice Akyereko Adjei, a senior lecturer from KNUST’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, highlighted the club’s significance in an interview with Adom TV. She explained that the program is designed to empower students with the knowledge and tools to leverage AI and robotics to solve real-world problems within their communities, ultimately improving living conditions.
“This club will nurture creativity and innovation, encouraging students to use advanced technologies in ways that address societal challenges,” Dr. Adjei remarked.
She further revealed that the Rail Robotics Club is part of a broader effort by KNUST to establish similar clubs in junior and senior high schools across the country, fostering a nationwide culture of technological innovation and problem-solving.
On behalf of Ola Girls’ SHS, the Assistant Headmaster of Administration, Richard Ernest Amankwah, expressed gratitude to KNUST for introducing the program to their school.
“We are deeply appreciative of this opportunity,” Mr. Amankwah stated. “The school management is committed to ensuring the success of the Rail Robotics Club and its contribution to student development.”
The initiative marks a significant step towards integrating technology and education at the secondary school level, paving the way for a new generation of innovators and problem-solvers in Ghana.
