Former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Adwoa Safo, is reportedly receiving medical treatment after an alleged shooting incident at the residence of her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, on Sunday.
According to sources familiar with the incident, tensions erupted during a gathering linked to the ongoing leadership succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo movement following the death of its founder, Apostle Kwadwo Safo.
Witnesses claim armed individuals opened fire during the event, which was reportedly organised in support of moves to install Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena as the next leader of the movement. Unconfirmed reports suggest that about 15 rounds of ammunition were discharged during the incident.
Sources close to Adwoa Safo allege that one of the bullets grazed her near the neck. She was subsequently rushed for medical attention and is said to be in stable condition.
The reported shooting comes amid growing disagreements within the Kristo Asafo family over succession arrangements, with some relatives challenging efforts to elevate Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena to the leadership position.
The Ghana Police Service is yet to issue an official statement on the incident. Investigations are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the reported shooting and determine those responsible.
