The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially opened the bidding process for countries interested in hosting the 2028, 2032 and 2036 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments.
CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe confirmed that several member associations have already submitted expressions of interest to stage Africa’s biggest international football competition.
The opening of the bidding process marks the first major step towards selecting host nations for the next three editions of the continent’s flagship football tournament.
Alongside the hosting process, CAF has also launched a Commercial Rights Invitation to Tender (ITT) for the 2028, 2032 and 2036 AFCON tournaments.
According to the continental football governing body, several leading international sports marketing agencies have already expressed interest in partnering with CAF to enhance the commercial value of future editions of the competition.
CAF believes stronger commercial partnerships will generate additional revenue that can be reinvested into football development programmes across its 54 member associations.
The governing body has not yet announced a timeline for selecting the successful host nations or commercial partners.
CAF stated that the countries selected to host the 2028, 2032 and 2036 Africa Cup of Nations will be announced after the completion of the bidding and evaluation process.
