A shocking incident unfolded in Orozo, Nigeria, where gospel musician Oluwatimileyin Ajayi was apprehended during a church service after being found with a decapitated human head hidden in a black nylon bag. The grim discovery occurred on Sunday during a Thanksgiving service marking the conclusion of a seven-day fast.
The alarm was first raised by a church member, Brother Victor, who noticed Ajayi acting suspiciously near a river close to the church. Victor informed another member, Brother Amos, and together they approached Ajayi, who was seated at the back of the church. When confronted, Ajayi hastily threw a black bag into the river, claiming it contained nothing. His evasive behavior heightened suspicion, prompting the church members to keep a closer watch on him.
Around 11 a.m., just as the service was drawing to a close, Brother Victor noticed someone moving suspiciously along the riverbank carrying a bag. This observation confirmed the members’ unease, and they took action. Shortly after, two motorcyclists arrived at the scene. One of them revealed that he had transported Ajayi from the nearby town of Loko-Tiye and had seen blood dripping from the bag during the journey.
As tensions escalated, the church members and motorcyclists confronted Ajayi. Initially, he denied any wrongdoing but attempted to flee when asked to retrieve the discarded bag. After a lengthy chase through a nearby bush, Ajayi was subdued and captured. According to Caleb Umaru, the church’s Bible Study Teacher and General Secretary, it took considerable effort for four men to apprehend him.
Upon retrieving and opening the bag, the group was horrified to find the severed head of a young woman. Subsequent investigations identified the victim as Ajayi’s girlfriend. During police interrogation, Ajayi confessed to killing her following an argument over her phone. He claimed that she had attacked him with a knife, injuring his hand, and that he retaliated by stabbing her in the neck.
Ajayi also alleged that a mysterious woman had instructed him to bring the severed head to her. A viral video from the scene shows a visibly injured Ajayi being questioned by police officers. Witnesses confirmed that he was taken away in a police van along with the gruesome evidence.
“They carried his body because he was almost half-dead from the confrontation,” said Umaru. “The police also took the head with them.”
The incident has left the local community in shock, with many struggling to come to terms with the horrific events that unfolded during what was meant to be a sacred gathering.
