Former Finance Minister Seth Terkper has praised Finance Minister-designate Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson and Energy Minister-designate John Abdulai Jinapor for their exceptional performance during their vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday, January 13. The duo’s appointments, announced on January 9, marked a significant step in their political careers.
Mr. Terkper, who attended the vetting session, expressed pride in the two nominees, having worked closely with them in the past. During the proceedings, Dr. Forson acknowledged Mr. Terkper as a mentor, attributing his expertise in revenue generation to lessons learned under his leadership.
Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Channel One TV, Mr. Terkper shared his joy at witnessing the progress of his former colleagues. “It was a proud moment for me,” he said. “Honourable Jinapor also reflected on our time working together when I was the supervising minister for power, and he served as my deputy. It’s deeply gratifying to see how far they’ve come.”
Mr. Terkper commended the nominees for their dedication and professionalism, emphasizing that their success is a testament to their hard work and commitment. While he appreciated the kind words from Dr. Forson and Mr. Jinapor, he stressed that their achievements were well-earned.
“Their acknowledgments were humbling, but the credit truly belongs to them,” Mr. Terkper remarked. “They have grown tremendously by taking their responsibilities in Parliament seriously, and today’s performance is a reflection of their diligence and competence.”
He expressed confidence in their ability to excel in their respective roles, highlighting their qualifications and the experience they bring to their portfolios.
