Former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, was allegedly shot at while attempting to serve a court injunction on her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, amid a deepening leadership dispute within the Kristo Asafo Mission.

The allegation was contained in a statement issued by the Kwadwo Safo family on Monday, June 22, following a shooting incident at a property linked to Israel Safo.

According to the family, the incident occurred during a gathering reportedly organized to install Israel Safo as leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission following the death of its founder, Apostle Kwadwo Safo.

Witnesses reportedly claimed that armed individuals opened fire during the event, while unconfirmed reports suggest that about 15 rounds of ammunition were discharged.

The family said Adwoa Safo, whom it describes as the recognized head of the Kwadwo Safo family, is currently in stable condition and responding positively to medical treatment.

According to the statement, some members of the church had secured a court injunction to stop the planned installation ceremony. After several unsuccessful attempts to serve the legal documents on Israel Safo, Adwoa Safo allegedly decided to deliver the injunction herself.

The family further alleged that during the encounter, Israel Safo discharged a firearm multiple times in her direction and instructed others at the scene to shoot at her vehicle.

The matter has reportedly been handed over to law enforcement authorities for investigation.

The dispute stems from the succession of the Kristo Asafo Mission following the death of Apostle Kwadwo Safo in September 2025.

The family claims that although Israel Safo was named successor in 2017 and entrusted with major leadership responsibilities, that decision was revoked in 2024 due to concerns about leadership and the management of some church-related businesses.

According to the family, Apostle Kwadwo Safo later appointed Adwoa Safo as head of the family and established a succession arrangement that excluded Israel Safo from leading the mission.

The family has urged members of the church and the public to remain calm and allow the courts and security agencies to handle both the succession dispute and the shooting allegations.

As of the time of publication, Israel Safo had not publicly responded to the allegations.
