President John Dramani Mahama has signed into law the new Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) Act, officially repealing the former Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) Act.

The new legislation is expected to reposition Ghana as one of Africa’s leading investment destinations by creating a more efficient and investor-friendly business environment.

According to government, the new Act introduces streamlined investment processes aimed at reducing bureaucracy and making it easier for both local and foreign investors to establish and operate businesses in Ghana.

The legislation also strengthens investor protection by providing a more robust legal framework designed to give investors greater confidence and security while conducting business in the country.

In addition, the new law enhances the institutional capacity of the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority by expanding its mandate to promote, facilitate and monitor investments more effectively.

Government says the Authority will also play a key role in supporting Ghanaian businesses to grow, compete and participate meaningfully in the country’s investment ecosystem.

The signing of the new GIPA Act forms part of broader efforts to improve Ghana’s investment climate, attract sustainable investments, create jobs and promote long-term economic growth.
