Sulley Sambian, the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Northern Development Authority (NDA), has strongly denied allegations circulating on social media concerning land sales, missing assets, and the auctioning of serviceable vehicles.

Describing the claims as “pathetically lame” and baseless, Sambian said he felt compelled to address the concerns “out of respect for those genuinely interested in the truth.”

On the allegations of NDA land sales in Accra and Tamale, Sambian explained that the authority had explored partnerships to develop its property in Cantonments, Accra. However, the process revealed that proper land title documents were missing.

“The Lands Commission ultimately granted the Authority a 1.2-acre lease,” he clarified, adding that no land in Tamale had been sold. “The claims about Tamale lands are completely unfounded,” he stressed.

Addressing reports of 24 missing motorbikes, Sambian revealed that stock-taking during his tenure uncovered the issue. He stated, “I directed my Deputy CEO to report the matter to the police, which led to arrests.” He condemned attempts to incite protests over these arrests, emphasizing that the matter remains under police investigation.

On allegations surrounding the procurement and sale of tricycles, Sambian assured the public that the process adhered to due procedures. He also dismissed any personal connections with the supplier, saying, “Neither the board chairman nor I have any relationship with the supplier.”

Responding to claims of a missing Toyota Hilux assigned to the board chairman, Sambian explained, “The vehicle was already designated for the chairman’s use before I took office. It is ridiculous to label it as missing when it’s in his possession.”

Regarding the auctioning of vehicles, the CEO clarified that the process was initiated prior to his tenure and adhered to proper protocols. He noted that all proceeds from the auction were deposited into a government account.

Sambian expressed disappointment in media outlets that published the allegations without verification. “None of them reached out to me or the board chairman for clarification, which is a breach of journalistic standards,” he remarked.
