Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has revealed that he and Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga are engaging Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin in discussions regarding his decision to suspend four Members of Parliament.

The Speaker imposed a two-week suspension on the MPs following a disorderly incident during Thursday’s sitting of the Appointments Committee.

Those affected by the suspension include the Chief Whips of both the Majority and Minority caucuses, Frank Annoh-Dompreh and Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, along with Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli and Jerry Ahmed Shaib.

In addition to the suspension, Speaker Bagbin has established a committee to investigate the incident, which he described as a disgrace to the institution of Parliament.

He has further instructed the Parliamentary Marshal to bar the suspended MPs from entering the chamber until their suspension period ends.
