The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has scheduled an emergency meeting with Premier League clubs on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
This urgent meeting comes in response to the violent incident during Sunday’s match between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko at Nana Kronmansah Park, which led to the tragic death of Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley.
According to the GFA, discussions will center on key security concerns, including stadium safety, fan conduct, and emergency response measures. The association reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the football experience in Ghana, stating that this meeting represents a significant step toward achieving that goal. Clubs are expected to respond promptly to the invitation.
In light of the recent developments, the GFA has also announced the postponement of the Matchday 20 fixtures originally scheduled for this weekend.
Meanwhile, both Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko have condemned the violence and assured their full cooperation with authorities in the ongoing investigation.
To ensure a thorough inquiry, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Donkor has been appointed to lead the investigation into the incident.
