Liverpool surged nine points clear at the top of the Premier League after Mohamed Salah’s clinical double secured a hard-fought victory over Bournemouth at a lively Vitality Stadium.

Salah’s two-goal display not only ensured three points for the Reds but also saw him climb to sixth on the all-time Premier League scoring list with 178 goals, surpassing Frank Lampard’s tally of 177.

The breakthrough came in the 30th minute when Liverpool were awarded a penalty after Cody Gakpo was clipped by Lewis Cook. Salah stepped up confidently and dispatched the spot-kick, putting Jurgen Klopp’s side ahead.

Despite trailing, Bournemouth—who had already claimed impressive wins over Arsenal, Manchester City, and Nottingham Forest this season—posed a real threat. They nearly took the lead early on when Antoine Semenyo’s powerful strike rattled the left post.

The hosts continued to push for an equalizer, and Semenyo was denied again early in the second half, this time by Alisson’s brilliant reflex save with his legs. Substitute Marcus Tavernier then came agonizingly close, striking the inside of the post, only for Justin Kluivert to send the rebound over the bar.

Bournemouth’s missed chances proved costly, and Liverpool made them pay. Salah, whose future remains uncertain with his contract expiring at the end of the season, sealed the victory with a stunning curling effort, securing a 2-0 win.

Liverpool now sit on 56 points from 23 matches, though Arsenal could reduce the gap to six if they beat Manchester City at home on Sunday.
