President Mahama Pledges Support for Black Stars Ahead of Chad Clash
Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, has reaffirmed his unwavering support for the Black Stars, promising to be present at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday to cheer them on in their crucial match against Chad.
During a visit to the team’s training session on March 19, 2025, President Mahama acknowledged his personal difficulty in watching football due to the emotional strain but emphasized his commitment to standing by the national team.
“I will make time to be there and watch the game myself. Although football makes me nervous, I will brave it. They even advised me to eat before heading to the stadium,” Mahama remarked. “My hope is that you will make my time worthwhile. The entire nation is behind you, and I believe you can deliver.”
Encouraging the Black Stars to move past their recent AFCON qualification setback, the President urged them to focus on securing a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He expressed confidence that Ghanaians would rally behind the team as long as they put in the effort and deliver positive results in their upcoming matches.
With national pride at stake, all eyes will be on the Black Stars as they aim to make a statement and regain the trust of their supporters.
