Otto Addo Names Strong 23-Man Squad for Ghana’s World Cup Qualifiers
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has unveiled his 23-man squad for Ghana’s crucial FIFA World Cup qualifiers, featuring a blend of experienced stars and exciting new faces.
One of the biggest highlights of the squad is the maiden call-up of Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, who has been in outstanding form in the Ghana Premier League. However, regular shot-stopper Manaf Nurudeen misses out due to injury, with Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Wollacott maintaining their places.
Key Players Return & Fresh Faces Earn Spots
The defensive lineup sees the return of Mohammed Salisu and Alexander Djiku, both of whom were sidelined in previous matches due to injuries. Promising local talents Razak Simpson (Nations FC) and Kamaradini Mamudu (Medeama SC) retain their spots after impressive performances.
In midfield, Arsenal’s Thomas Partey makes his return, alongside in-form Ernest Nuamah (Olympique Lyon) and star playmaker Mohammed Kudus (West Ham United).
The attack is packed with firepower as youngster Jerry Afriyie receives a second senior call-up after scoring in his debut. Kamaldeen Sulemana also makes a return, while Genk’s Christopher Bonsu Baah joins the attacking options. New captain Jordan Ayew leads the frontline, with Inaki Williams and Antoine Semenyo completing the offensive lineup.
