The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced plans to reintroduce tolls on roads and bridges as part of efforts to generate revenue for road maintenance and infrastructure projects.
In a press release issued on February 6, 2025, and signed by the Head of the Public Relations Unit, Nasir Ahmad Yartey, the Ministry revealed that it is developing a technology-driven toll collection system to enhance efficiency and transparency.
The initiative seeks to address funding challenges in road maintenance while ensuring a seamless and modern tolling process.
To achieve this, the Ministry has committed to an open, competitive, and cost-effective procurement process to select service providers for the project.
The statement reassured the public of the government’s dedication to improving road infrastructure through a well-structured tolling system.
