The Nkwanta South branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed disappointment over what they see as a continued lack of ministerial appointments from their constituency.
At a press conference, party members voiced concerns that despite Nkwanta South’s unwavering support for the NDC since 1992, their contributions have not been adequately rewarded with representation at the national level.
William Kwaku Chameme, Assemblyman for the Nkwanta West Electoral Area, emphasized the constituency’s consistent role in securing electoral victories for the party, often in the face of strong competition from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“We have remained a stronghold for the NDC, delivering votes and standing by the party through thick and thin. It is only fair that our constituency is recognized with key ministerial appointments,” Chameme stated.
He particularly advocated for the appointment of Nkwanta South’s Member of Parliament, Geoffrey Kini, arguing that his elevation to a ministerial position would both honor the constituency’s loyalty and ensure better representation in government.
According to Chameme, Mr. Kini has been a relentless advocate for development in Nkwanta South, championing initiatives in infrastructure, education, and healthcare. Other party members at the event echoed this sentiment, describing the MP as a respected and dedicated leader whose contributions deserve national recognition.
They further urged the party’s national leadership to appoint individuals from Nkwanta South to CEO positions and other high-ranking roles, arguing that such appointments would help address the pressing developmental challenges facing the constituency.
The NDC’s Nkwanta South branch is now calling on party leadership to acknowledge their long-standing commitment by ensuring that their voices are represented at the highest levels of government.
