In a high-stakes operation, National Security has seized a significant, though undisclosed, amount of U.S. dollars and Ghana cedis—some of which were counterfeit—hidden inside twelve 20-foot shipping containers.
Acting on a tip-off, security operatives traced the containers to a warehouse in Sapeiman, Ga South Municipality, where they launched a targeted raid. Upon inspection, authorities discovered bundles of U.S. dollars stashed inside wooden boxes filled with cement, an attempt to conceal the illicit cash.
Further searches in the warehouse exposed even more hidden compartments. Some boxes, tightly barricaded with plywood and sealed with charcoal, contained additional stacks of cash.
However, two containers remain missing, and security agencies are actively tracking their whereabouts. Meanwhile, a manhunt is in progress for four key suspects, including a ringleader known only as Alhaji.
In a shocking twist, security forces also uncovered boxes suspected to contain gold bars, along with counterfeit Ghana cedi notes in ₵50 and ₵100 denominations. Additionally, fake Ghana Army uniforms and boots were found, raising further concerns about the scope of the operation.
Authorities are intensifying investigations as they work to locate the remaining containers and apprehend those involved.
