Veteran Actor Mawuli Semevo Passes Away After Battling Severe Burns
Veteran Ghanaian actor Mawuli Semevo has tragically passed away at the Ridge Hospital on Thursday, February 20, 2025, after suffering severe burns from a fire accident that occurred about a week prior. He was 63 years old.
Mawuli Semevo’s Tragic Fire Accident
The unfortunate incident was first reported on February 8, 2025, by Judith Addison, founder of Beyond Burns International, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting burn survivors.
In a distressing social media update, Judith Addison revealed that Mawuli Semevo had been in critical condition following the fire accident.
“Beyond Burns International received an urgent SOS regarding a tragic incident. Today, we visited veteran actor Mawuli Semevo, who has suffered severe burns and is fighting for his life,” she stated.
How the Fire Incident Happened
According to reports, Mawuli Semevo was asleep in his home when it caught fire, leaving him with burns covering 44% of his body. He also sustained serious respiratory injuries, making it difficult for him to breathe.
“From his head to his legs, every part of his body was affected by the fire. He has lost all his hair and is struggling to survive,” Judith detailed.
A Heartbreaking Loss
Despite medical efforts to save him, Mawuli Semevo succumbed to his injuries. His passing has left a void in Ghana’s entertainment industry, with fans, colleagues, and loved ones mourning his untimely demise.
