A lot of you will remain at the backbench – Afenyo-Markin ‘teases’ NDC MPs

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin brought a wave of laughter to Parliament with his playful and speculative comments about the future roles of some Members of Parliament from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

During a spirited parliamentary session, Afenyo-Markin showcased his signature humor while addressing his colleagues.
“Mr. Speaker, I can see the incoming Majority Leader and his deputy conferring. Those of us in opposition, we know more things than those of you in government,” he began, instantly capturing attention.

With a grin, he added:
“If you ask me, I can tell all of you where you are going. But you don’t know. That is how it is. I know. Armah Kofi Buah is going to land. Yeah, you are going to land. Are you scared? Nobody will stop it. If destiny has it for you, you will get it. Why are you scared?”

The Minority Leader continued his lighthearted predictions, assigning hypothetical roles to other MPs:
“Kwame Abodza is going to roads and highways. Ahmed Ibrahim is heading to local government. And, of course, a lot of you will remain at the backbench.”

His remarks were met with laughter from all corners of the chamber, providing a moment of comic relief during an otherwise intense session.

While Afenyo-Markin’s predictions were delivered in jest, they also highlighted the underlying competitiveness within the political landscape, as MPs anticipate possible cabinet appointments or other prominent roles.

The Minority Leader’s humorous predictions not only showcased his wit but also served as a reminder that a touch of levity can go a long way in easing tensions and fostering camaraderie in the political arena.
