The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has commenced interviews for candidates seeking to serve as Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Ashanti Region.

This initiative aims to identify skilled and visionary leaders to spearhead development at the local government level. The process has generated significant interest, with numerous party members from the region actively taking part.

Over the course of three days, the selection committee will assess 343 applicants representing all 43 metropolitan, municipal, and district assemblies in the region. On the first day alone, the committee is vetting 88 aspirants from 11 MMDAs through a thorough screening process.

Regional party officials have stressed the significance of this exercise, highlighting its role in ensuring that competent individuals are chosen to advance the NDC’s grassroots development agenda.

Candidates are required to exhibit a deep understanding of the challenges facing their respective districts and propose actionable plans to tackle issues such as unemployment, poor infrastructure, sanitation, education, and healthcare deficits.

The NDC considers the interviews a vital step in selecting leaders capable of transforming their communities while advancing the party’s broader mission of national development.
