A severe rainstorm has left Asare Bediako Senior High School in Akrokere, Adansi North District, Ashanti Region, with extensive damage to its ICT laboratory.
In an interview with Adom News, Headmistress Beatrice Kyei reported that the storm had torn off the roof of the computer lab, leaving the school’s 50 computers exposed to the elements, increasing the risk of damage or malfunction.
She expressed concern over how this will worsen the already strained student-to-computer ratio at the school, which only has 50 computers to serve its entire student body.
“This is a huge setback for us,” Kyei said. “With only 50 computers available, the damage to the lab makes the shortage even worse, which will disrupt our educational activities.”
The Headmistress also confirmed that the incident has been reported to various stakeholders, including the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), the District Education Directorate, the District Assembly, and local traditional leaders.
Kyei made an urgent appeal for immediate support to repair the roof and rewire the facility, so the lab can be restored to proper working condition and continue to serve the educational needs of the students.
“We need assistance to fix the roof and rewire the lab to prevent further damage and ensure effective teaching and learning can continue,” she concluded.
