Kumasi Asante Kotoko has officially announced its return to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for the remainder of the ongoing 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
The Porcupine Warriors were previously compelled to relocate their home games to the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) deemed the Baba Yara Stadium unsuitable for international fixtures. The decision followed its use during Ghana’s AFCON 2025 qualifier against Angola.
The National Sports Authority (NSA) subsequently closed the stadium for extensive renovations to meet required standards. With the maintenance work now completed, Kotoko is set to resume playing at their historic home ground.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on November 28, 2024, the club expressed its delight at the move:
“We are pleased to announce our return to the Baba Yara Stadium for our remaining home matches of the season. This decision was made following an official communication confirming the completion of maintenance work at our historic home venue.”
Kotoko’s return to Baba Yara also means that the much-anticipated Super Clash against arch-rivals Hearts of Oak, scheduled for Matchday 13 of the Ghana Premier League, will take place at the iconic stadium. This thrilling encounter will be one of the highlights of the league season once it resumes after the December 7 general elections.
The club and its supporters will hope the move back to Baba Yara Sports Stadium brings renewed energy and success as Kotoko continues its quest for glory in the ongoing campaign.
