President John Dramani Mahama has named Charles Kipo as the new Director-General of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
The appointment, announced on January 14, 2025, is part of a comprehensive plan to bolster Ghana’s national security infrastructure.
Charles Kipo, a seasoned intelligence professional with extensive expertise in security operations, will oversee the activities of the NIB, ensuring the bureau effectively safeguards the nation’s stability and safety.
His responsibilities include spearheading efforts to enhance coordination between intelligence agencies and other government institutions to address evolving security threats.
In addition to this key appointment, President Mahama has also named Prosper Douglas Bani as the National Security Advisor. A former Chief of Staff and Minister for the Interior, Bani brings decades of experience in governance and security management to his new role.
DCOP Abdul-Osman Razak has been selected as the National Security Coordinator. He will lead efforts to unify the country’s security strategies and ensure cohesive implementation of national security initiatives.
Furthermore, retired COP Nathan Kofi Boakye has been appointed as the Director of Operations at the Presidency, where he will oversee operational efficiency in security matters.
These appointments reflect the President’s commitment to reinforcing Ghana’s security framework to address emerging challenges and safeguard citizens.
