The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a fast-track process to replace passports that were lost or damaged during the recent devastating floods affecting parts of the country.

In a public notice issued on Friday, July 3, 2026, the Ministry said the initiative is aimed at supporting affected citizens by ensuring that replacement passports are processed within one week after completion of the required application procedures.

The Ministry expressed its deepest sympathy to victims of the floods, which caused significant loss of life and widespread destruction of property.

“The Ministry is aware of the catastrophic consequences including loss of lives and destruction of properties. We extend our sincere and deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased,” the statement said.

It added that the Ministry stands in full solidarity with all affected Ghanaians during the recovery period.

According to the statement, many victims lost or damaged their passports in the floodwaters, prompting the introduction of the expedited replacement system.

Affected applicants are required to contact the Ministry between July 3 and July 17, 2026, via a dedicated hotline: 055 936 8563.

Applicants must provide personal details including name, date of birth, gender as shown on the lost or damaged passport, and a valid contact number to facilitate processing.

The Ministry assured that all eligible cases will be processed within one week of application submission.

Officials say the intervention forms part of broader government efforts to assist disaster victims and restore essential personal documentation disrupted by the flooding.
