Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that his team struggled to contain the threat posed by Kamaldeen Sulemana during their 3-1 triumph over Southampton on Thursday night.
The Ghanaian winger was a standout performer for Southampton, using his pace and skill to cause repeated problems for the Red Devils’ defense. Kamaldeen completed the most successful dribbles in the match and frequently got the better of Leny Yoro on the left flank.
While Amad Diallo stole the spotlight with a sensational 12-minute hat-trick to secure Manchester United’s victory, Amorim acknowledged the challenge Kamaldeen presented.
“Southampton did an excellent job exploiting spaces between our lines,” Amorim said after the match. “Their number 20 [Kamaldeen Sulemana] gave us real trouble. With space behind him, he was difficult to stop.”
Southampton initially took an early lead when Manuel Ugarte inadvertently turned Tyler Dibling’s flick into his own net. However, Amad’s clinical finishing quickly turned the game in United’s favor.
Kamaldeen, making just his third Premier League start of the season, delivered an impressive individual display despite Southampton’s defeat. His dynamic performance highlighted his potential as one of the league’s most exciting young talents.
The result further solidified Manchester United’s standing in the league, but Amorim’s remarks underscored the impact Kamaldeen had in what was otherwise a comfortable win for the Red Devils.
