Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Napoli forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on a contract running until June 2029.

The Georgian international, who had been linked with Liverpool and Chelsea, requested to leave Serie A leaders Napoli last week after talks over a contract renewal broke down.

While the exact transfer fee remains undisclosed, reports suggest the French champions paid €70 million (£59 million) plus add-ons to secure the highly sought-after winger.

“It’s an incredible feeling to be here,” said the 23-year-old. “I’ve heard so many great things about PSG, and it’s a huge honour to join such a prestigious club. I’m eager to get started and wear these colours with pride.”

Nicknamed ‘Kvaradona’ by Napoli fans in homage to club legend Diego Maradona, Kvaratskhelia was instrumental in Napoli’s Scudetto-winning campaign. He joined the Italian club in 2022 for £9 million from Dinamo Batumi in his homeland, tallying an impressive 54 goals and assists in 107 games during his stint.

The Georgian winger also shone on the international stage, helping Georgia reach the last 16 at Euro 2024. His move to PSG makes him the first Georgian player to represent the Parisian club.

PSG hailed Kvaratskhelia’s arrival, describing him as “one of the most electrifying talents in world football – a player with immense skill, determination, and a team-first attitude.”

This transfer marks PSG’s first acquisition of the January window as they aim to bolster their squad for domestic and European challenges. Currently leading Ligue 1 by seven points ahead of Marseille, PSG face Lens on Saturday before hosting Manchester City in the Champions League next week.
