The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam George, has officially requested legal guidance from Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, regarding multiple contracts signed under the previous administration.
In a memo, the Minister emphasized that this initiative aligns with President Mahama’s commitment to zero tolerance for corruption and ensuring value for money in public-private partnerships.
Specifically, Mr. George is seeking a legal opinion on the terms, compliance, and viability of contracts related to the commercialization of the e-Government Infrastructure, awarded to Messrs Lebara Ghana Ltd and Smart Infraco Ghana Ltd.
Additionally, he has requested a legal review of the agreement with Messrs Kelni GVG Ltd for the Design, Development, and Implementation of a Common Platform for Traffic Monitoring, Revenue Assurance, Mobile Money Monitoring, and Fraud Management.
This marks the first phase of a broader review of contracts executed within the Ministry. The Minister assured the public that updates would be provided on the Attorney General’s findings and any actions taken as a result.
