Old Tafo MP, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has vowed to take legal action against the Mahama administration following its decision to revoke public sector appointments made in the final months of the previous government.
In a strongly worded statement, Assafuah condemned the dismissals as politically motivated and unconstitutional, arguing that they violate the principles of due process enshrined in Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.
“Our Constitution does not permit the arbitrary removal of public servants without just cause. Even in private institutions, the right to a fair hearing is fundamental,” he asserted.
He urged President Mahama to focus on implementing the much-touted 24-hour economy, which is expected to generate jobs, rather than terminating the employment of young Ghanaians.
“It is unacceptable that individuals lawfully recruited into public service are being dismissed without cause. This move only deepens economic hardship rather than addressing unemployment,” he said.
Assafuah encouraged affected individuals to come forward as he prepares to challenge the dismissals in court, promising that a future NPP government would reinstate those impacted.
“This fight is about fairness and ensuring that government actions are lawful. We must stand against injustice and protect the rights of Ghanaian workers,” he declared.
