The legal battle surrounding the alleged shooting of former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo has taken a dramatic turn, with nine suspects, including her brother Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena, appearing before the Adentan Circuit Court.
The accused persons were brought to court under heavy security escort following their arrest in connection with the shooting incident that left Adwoa Safo injured during a gathering on Sunday, June 22.
According to reports, the incident occurred during an installation ceremony linked to efforts to make Israel Safo the leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission, a development that has intensified the ongoing leadership dispute within the religious organisation.
Investigators say a search conducted at a residence and vehicle in Kwabenya led to the discovery of several rounds of ammunition, loaded magazines, and two Glock pistols. One of the firearms is reportedly registered in the name of Israel Safo.
The case is closely tied to the succession battle that emerged following the death of Kristo Asafo founder, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, in September 2025.
The family of the late founder maintains that Sarah Adwoa Safo was appointed head of the family before his passing and insists that any competing leadership claims contradict the succession arrangements allegedly left behind by the respected inventor and religious leader.
With investigations still ongoing, the accused persons remain in custody as the court begins hearing the matter.
The case is expected to attract significant public attention as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the broader dispute within the Kristo Asafo Mission.
