LeBron James has expressed his excitement about teaming up with Luka Doncic following the Slovenian star’s blockbuster move to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Doncic, 25, made a stunning switch from the Dallas Mavericks last weekend, with Anthony Davis heading the other way in a trade that shocked the NBA world. The former Mavericks talisman has been an NBA All-Star for five consecutive seasons and was the league’s leading scorer in 2024.

James, a four-time NBA MVP, believes Doncic’s arrival will bring plenty of attention to the Lakers.

“It’s going to be special,” James said. “We’re going to attract a lot of eyes. Luka is a big-time player. He’s only 25, hasn’t even hit his prime, and he’s already done incredible things in this league.”

“I’m excited to have him here, and the whole city of LA is too. Honestly, it still feels a bit surreal.”

James made these comments following the Lakers’ dominant 122-97 victory over city rivals the LA Clippers on Tuesday night. The veteran superstar put up an impressive performance with 26 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds.

Doncic Still Processing Shock Move

Doncic, sidelined with a calf injury since December, was in attendance for the game, watching from courtside alongside his new teammates. Speaking earlier in the day, he admitted he was stunned by the trade.

“You can imagine how surprised I was,” he said. “I had to check if it was April 1 because I just couldn’t believe it.”

The Lakers anticipate that Doncic will make his highly anticipated debut later this month. Until then, fans will eagerly await the first glimpse of the LeBron-Doncic partnership on the court.
