Chairman Wontumi Vows to Bring Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar & Vinicius Jr. to Asante Kotoko
Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has made a bold declaration to bring global football superstars Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., and Vinicius Jr. to the Ghana Premier League, specifically to Asante Kotoko.
Wontumi’s Ambitious Plan for Asante Kotoko
Speaking on Wontumi Radio, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman expressed his unwavering commitment to securing these top football icons before they retire from professional football.
“I will pay Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, and Vinicius to retire at Kotoko,” he confidently stated, emphasizing his dedication to investing heavily and leveraging his influence to restore Asante Kotoko’s dominance in African football.
Chairman Wontumi’s Vision for Kotoko
Chairman Wontumi, known for previously expressing interest in buying English Premier League club Chelsea in 2022, is now focusing on revolutionizing Kotoko. He envisions a transformative period inspired by the leadership of former chairman Herbert Mensah, who significantly elevated the club’s profile.
“I know that one day, I will be Kotoko chairman. And when I do, I will use money and aggression to make the team as great as it was under Herbert Mensah,” he declared.
Balancing Politics & Football Ambitions
Wontumi acknowledged that his political responsibilities with the NPP sometimes prevent him from serving Asante Kotoko as he desires, but he remains committed to contributing in other ways.
“Because of the NPP, sometimes I don’t serve as I’m supposed to, but I still contribute in other ways,” he explained.
A Grand Vision for Kotoko’s Future
Chairman Wontumi is determined to take Asante Kotoko to new heights, building on the legacy of Herbert Mensah. He believes that when the time is right, he will transform Kotoko into a global football powerhouse.
“We all saw what Herbert did, so I will apply all of that with a bit of pride. The level I will take Kotoko to, everyone will see. But just as Jesus told Mary, ‘It’s not my time yet,’ I will also say that it’s not my turn yet.”
