President John Mahama has named Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, a Senior Partner at KPMG Ghana, as the Acting Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
The appointment, effective Tuesday, January 21, 2025, was announced in a statement signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Executive Secretary to the President.
Mr. Sarpong’s appointment comes in the wake of the resignation of Julie Essiam, who stepped down as Commissioner-General in a letter dated January 20, 2025. Her resignation letter, addressed to the president through the Finance Minister-designate, expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to serve in the role.
The new acting Commissioner-General brings a wealth of experience from his tenure at KPMG, where he has been a key figure in financial and advisory services.
