In a dramatic FA Cup clash, Manchester United triumphed over Arsenal 4-3 in a penalty shootout after a thrilling encounter that saw United play with 10 men for almost an hour. The match took a twist when Diogo Dalot received a second yellow card in the 61st minute for a mistimed tackle on Arsenal’s Mikel Merino, forcing United to defend with one less player.

United had taken the lead in the 52nd minute, with Bruno Fernandes producing a stunning strike after Alejandro Garnacho’s assist. Garnacho had capitalized on a defensive error by Gabriel, delivering a cross for Fernandes to curl the ball into the top corner.

Arsenal quickly responded to Dalot’s red card, equalizing just two minutes later when Gabriel volleyed home from close range. The Gunners were then awarded a golden opportunity to take the lead when Harry Maguire was penalized for a foul on Kai Havertz in the box. Martin Ødegaard stepped up to take the penalty, but United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir made a crucial save, diving to his left to deny the Arsenal captain.

Despite further chances from Declan Rice and Havertz, Arsenal couldn’t break through Bayindir, who kept his team in the game. The match went to extra time, with Arsenal pushing for a winner with their numerical advantage, but United defended resolutely.

As the game proceeded to penalties, Havertz had his spot-kick saved by Bayindir. Then, in a dramatic conclusion, Joshua Zirkzee calmly slotted home the winning penalty, sending David Raya the wrong way and securing United’s place in the FA Cup fourth round. The defeat marked Arsenal’s third early exit from the FA Cup in the last four years.
