Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has revealed that he has never regretted his decision to represent Ghana instead of England, insisting it was one of the easiest choices he has ever made.

Ahead of Ghana’s crucial World Cup showdown against England, the England-born attacker said wearing the Black Stars jersey means a lot to him and his family.

According to Semenyo, he immediately embraced the opportunity when Ghana first approached him.

“I got a call from Ghana when I was 20 or 21, I could never say no to that,” he said.

The forward explained that representing Ghana at the World Cup has allowed him to create unforgettable memories while making his family proud.

Despite growing up in England, Semenyo says his loyalty has always been with Ghana, adding that his father was especially proud when he made his debut for the Black Stars.

Looking ahead to the clash against England, Semenyo acknowledged the quality within the Three Lions squad but believes Ghana can pull off a major upset.

“Can they win the World Cup? Of course. They have sensational players. But I hope Ghana can stop them.”

The striker also disclosed that he has already exchanged friendly banter with some of his England teammates and friends, but stressed that friendship will be put aside once the match begins.

For Semenyo, beating England would be a huge statement to the rest of the world and proof that Ghana can compete with the very best on football’s biggest stage.

With confidence growing in the Black Stars camp, Ghana will be hoping Semenyo and his teammates can deliver another memorable World Cup performance when they face England.
