A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) legal team, Victor Adawudu, has stated that former MASLOC Chief Executive Officer, Sedina Tamakloe, is currently in the custody of the Ghana Prisons Service following her extradition from the United States.

His comments come amid allegations by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the government is protecting Sedina Tamakloe from serving the 10-year prison sentence handed down by the Accra High Court.

Speaking to Citi News, Mr. Adawudu dismissed the claims and insisted that the relevant state institutions are carrying out the court’s directives.

“All I know is that there are appropriate authorities that are supposed to ensure that the orders of the court are being enforced. So, to my knowledge, she is in the hands of the Ghana Prisons and the security people,” he stated.

He further advised individuals seeking more information about the matter to use the Right to Information process instead of relying on speculation.

“I am sure that with an application through the Right to Information, they will be given the information, rather than speculation. But I can tell you that she is in the hands of the security, as she was handed over by the US authorities,” he added.

Sedina Tamakloe returned to Ghana on June 9 after being extradited from the United States to serve a 10-year prison sentence imposed by the Accra High Court over a case involving financial loss to the state during her tenure as Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC).

Her return has attracted significant public attention, with political parties and members of the public closely monitoring developments surrounding her extradition and incarceration.

The latest comments from the NDC legal team are likely to intensify discussions over the case, which continues to generate interest across Ghana’s political landscape.

For now, Mr. Adawudu maintains that Sedina Tamakloe is in the custody of the appropriate authorities and that due legal processes are being followed.
