Richie Mensah, CEO of Lynx Entertainment, has rejected claims that artistes signed under his record label experience career declines after parting ways with the company.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with DJ Slim, Richie addressed what some have dubbed the “Lynx curse,” explaining that the difficulties artistes face after leaving the label stem from the complexities of managing a music career independently.
“Music business is tough. When an artiste leaves an established structure and has to do everything on their own, it becomes challenging. It’s not a curse—it’s just difficult,” he clarified.
Richie credited the success of Lynx Entertainment to a dedicated team of about 60 professionals handling various aspects of an artist’s career, including creative direction, public relations, and visuals.
“We have different teams handling different aspects of an artiste’s brand. When an artiste leaves and doesn’t have the resources to employ the same level of support, the workload reduces significantly, and naturally, the results change,” he explained.
He also cautioned against defining success solely by streaming numbers or chart positions, emphasizing that profitability and investment in an artiste’s craft are equally important metrics.
Lynx Entertainment has worked with several artistes over the years, including Eazzy, OJ Blaq, Asem, Ziggi, Kuami Eugene, St. Lennon, Kasar, and Maya Blu. The label currently manages KiDi, DJ Vyrusky, and DSL.
