Veteran Nollywood actor passes on

The Nigerian film industry is in mourning following the death of veteran actor and academic Columbus Irisoanga.

His passing was confirmed by fellow actress Hilda Dokubo, who expressed her sorrow on social media.

“There can’t be a shortage of angels in heaven that the few here are called home like this na! This one is heavy on us. Uniport Rivers state Nollywood,” she wrote.

Beyond his contributions to Nollywood, Irisoanga was a respected senior lecturer in the Theatre Arts department at the University of Port Harcourt, where he mentored and shaped future actors and creatives.

He is best remembered for his powerful portrayal of Chief Priest “Igbudu” in the 2001 Nollywood classic Isakaba, a role that cemented his legacy among movie lovers.

Irisoanga remained active in the industry until his passing, leaving behind a rich legacy of performances and students who will carry on his teachings.
