Aston Villa secured their place in the FA Cup fifth round for the first time in ten years with a commanding victory over Tottenham, piling more pressure on Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou.
Villa made a dream start, breaking the deadlock inside the first minute as Jacob Ramsey’s low drive slipped through the hands of Spurs goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, who should have done better.
Morgan Rogers doubled Villa’s advantage in the 64th minute, reacting quickest to a loose ball in the box and firing into the roof of the net for his 11th goal of the campaign.
Moments later, Marcus Rashford made his Villa debut, coming off the bench following his loan move from Manchester United late in the transfer window.
It’s been a nightmare week for Tottenham, who have now suffered back-to-back cup exits in four days, following their 4-0 Carabao Cup semi-final loss to Liverpool. Their struggles extend to the league as well, with the team slipping to 14th place.
Villa will discover their fifth-round opponents when the draw takes place live on BBC One at 19:10 GMT on Monday.
