Thomas Partey has assured Ghanaians that he is fully fit and mentally prepared ahead of the Black Stars’ crucial FIFA World Cup clash against England.
The experienced midfielder, who missed Ghana’s opening match against Panama, says he is now ready to return to action and help the team compete against one of the tournament favourites.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, Partey revealed that preparations in camp have gone well and the players are focused on giving their best on the world stage.
“I’m okay, I’m feeling good. We’ve been training well, and everybody’s ready,” he said.
The Black Stars go into the match with confidence after their victory over Panama, and Partey believes the positive atmosphere within the squad can help drive the team forward.
“The emotions at camp were really good from our first game. Everybody is here to enjoy. We are going to this game knowing we have to compete with the best players,” he stated.
Despite England’s quality and star-studded squad, Partey insists Ghana must focus on teamwork and discipline rather than individual battles.
“I know it’s not going to be easy. They have very good players, but it’s about collective team play. We have to work on our way of playing and try to compete with them,” he explained.
The midfielder also stressed that success at the World Cup depends heavily on mentality and determination.
“Everything is mental. You have to be ready. Whatever minute your body can go through, you just give your best,” he added.
Partey dismissed suggestions that he has personal points to prove, insisting that the team’s success remains the priority.
“It’s not about personal achievement. We are a team. If I can play my best game, I’ll be happy, but at the end of the day, the whole team needs to perform at the highest level,” he said.
With Ghana preparing for one of its toughest group-stage tests, Partey believes the Black Stars must embrace the challenge and enjoy the opportunity to compete against some of the best players in world football.
