Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has called on former NPP presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong to put aside his differences with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and help unite the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.

His appeal comes after Kennedy Agyapong publicly warned that he would not be intimidated or silenced by criticisms from within the party, cautioning that he could reveal more information if provoked.

“NPP should be careful with me, saying I am bitter. If they provoke me, I will spill the beans all over the place,” Kennedy Agyapong reportedly stated.

Reacting to the comments in a statement issued on Friday, June 19, 2026, Dr. Acheampong said he understood the disappointment that comes with losing a presidential contest because he also participated in the NPP’s January 2026 presidential primary.

“I speak to you today not as a bystander to our recent contest, but as one who stood in it,” he stated, adding that he understood the sacrifices, emotions and expectations involved in such a race.

According to him, the NPP’s biggest responsibility now is to rebuild and reunite following its defeat in the 2024 general election.

“Our party suffered a painful defeat in 2024. The single most important task before us between now and 2028 is to rebuild, to reunite, and to return to power,” he said.

Dr. Acheampong praised Kennedy Agyapong’s long-standing contribution to the NPP, describing him as a loyal and dedicated member whose commitment to the party cannot be questioned.

However, he urged him to use his influence to promote peace and reconciliation rather than deepen divisions.

“Ken is a son of this party. A man whose energy, resources and loyalty over decades cannot be questioned. It is for that very reason that I urge him, respectfully but firmly, to lower the temperature and to lend his considerable influence to the work of healing rather than division,” he stated.

The Abetifi MP also appealed to supporters of both camps to avoid internal attacks and focus on the party’s future.

He stressed that personal grievances must not stand in the way of the NPP’s efforts to regroup and position itself strongly for the 2028 elections.

According to him, unity remains the party’s strongest weapon if it hopes to return to power and regain the confidence of Ghanaians.
